We reeived this message from Sister Kathryn Ondreyco -  fellow of Sr Mary Margeret.

On the morning of September 5, 2023, Sister Mary Margaret Mulgrew (Sister Miriam Anita) passed into eternal life. Sister Mary Margaret was 80 years old and celebrated 59 years of religious profession as a Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

Sister Mary Margaret had a brief sojourn as an elementary school teacher at Saint Anastasia, Saint Cecilia and Holy Spirit, before becoming a Spanish and theology teacher at Holy Names High School and Saint Monica High School, Santa Monica.  She found a perfect niche as Alumni Director at Saint Monica with her ability to establish relationships and build connections with the alums.

For 12 years she lived and ministered in Watsonville where she taught ESL and Spanish to women and helped with the programs in the area. In 2002 she moved to Convent of the Holy Names, Los Gatos, where she drove and provided other support services until she no longer was able.

These past 10 years,while at Fatima Villa and later at Saratoga Retirement Center, Sister Mary Margaret’s presence and prayer became her gift and ministry to others.

Sister Mary Margaret’s Mass of Resurrection will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Chapel in Campbell, California. Lunch will follow the Mass. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will be streamed. The link for the streaming will be sent a few days before the funeral.       

Her burial will take place at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward, California.
