A Time To Be Born: Ecclesiastes 3:2

Deloris Jones was born in Savannah, Georgia on June 15, 1952 to the late Mr. Richard Scott,Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Lee Scott. She was the third of three siblings.

A Time To Love: Ecclesiastes 3:8

Deloris met and fell deeply in love with her soul mate, Vernon Lee Jones, Sr. of whom she married on September 1, 1973. To this union of thirty-seven years, three children were born and grandchildren emerged. She loved her family dearly!

A Time To Live: Isaiah 38:16

At an early age, Deloris joined Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated in the Chatham County Public School System and graduated from Sophronia Tompkins High School in 1970. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education at Savannah State College in 1975. She taught for a short time at Savannah High School before becoming employed for one year as a high school teacher in Claxton, South Carolina. Her career changed when she accepted a position at the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles. Deloris received the State of Georgia Faithful Service Award in appreciation for thirty years of faithful service to the State Board of Georgia.

She worked as an investigator and recently retired after thirty two years of service. She enjoyed her job and she enjoyed life.

It was such a bright and beautiful day! On Tuesday, October 12, 2010 Deloris entered into eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a beloved husband, Vernon Lee Jones, Sr. of Savannah, GA; three sons, Major Vernon Lee Jones, Jr. (Samantha) of Chester, Virginia, Min. (Major) Drevon

Markeith Jones, I (Shalena) of Savannah, GA, and Derek George Jones (Brittany) of Westfield,
Indiana; a step-daughter, Candice Johnson of Savannah, GA; nine grand-children, two brothers,Richard Scott, Jr. (Mary) and Johnnie Lee Scott, both of Savannah, GA; a devoted niece, Kimetra Adams (Kenneth); a special sister, Yvonne Grant (Otis); two god-daughters, Selena Quarterman and Paris Williams, all of Savannah, GA; and a host of special cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
