Barbara passed away on January 21, 2016.

Barbara Ann Jakola, 63 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away in her home on January 21, 2016 after battling many illnesses. She was born on April 22, 1952 in Berkeley, California. Barbara attended Coronado High School and was a graduate of Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona and was the attendance clerk and registrar at Shadow Mountain High School for 25 years where she loved building relationships with the students and staff. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Edith and Sam Thomason and her brother Frank Thomason. Barbara is survived by her daughters Jennifer Grigg and her husband Andy Grigg, and Stephanie Jakola, son Nicholas Jakola, sister Jane Joseph (Tom),and brothers Michael Thomason (Carol) and Patrick Thomason and multiple nieces and nephews that she loved with all of her heart. Her heart belonged to the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Brianna and Brandon Grigg, and her beloved companion, her dog, Chiquita.
Barbara will be greatly missed and remembered for her kind soul, loving heart, being a good friend and second mom to many, and as a passionate George Strait fan. Services will be held at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd. on Saturday, February 6th at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery located at 23015 North Cave Creek Road at 12:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara's name to an organization near and dear to her heart, HALO Animal Rescue, at www.halorescue.org. This organization is led by a very close family friend, Heather Allen.

Brenda Chadwick (Burke)

So sorry to hear of the passing of Barbara. I remember her in several of my classes at Saguaro. My prayers go out to her family and loved ones. Your friend Brenda Chadwick Burke
