Keith had completed all of the requirements for Eagle Scout except his project. He was killed on a Friday and he had scheduled his Eagle Project to start the next day. After his funeral, myself and several others spent the next 3 Saturdays completing his project. The project was installing erosion control barriers in the Mountain Rest area after fires destroyed a large portion of the National Forest. His Eagle Scout badge was presented to his parents posthumously a few months later.

Keith was such a sweet guy and cutie pie. Funny and fun he was a good person to hang out with and talk to about life. He was so young when we lost him. I wish we could have the adult he would have turned into with us today. Miss you.

Keith was a great friend... a great friend that I still think about to this day. If I remember right, he was killed after leaving band practice. I still remember Mr. Crenshaw crying that next day in the band room, telling us he loved us and how he couldn't stand to lose any of us. Rest well Keith.

Keith was a good friend -- funny, faithful and true. I was working in my dad's shop when I got the call after school that day. I remember sitting down on a tool chest and just sobbing. I had the honor of reading the poem I wrote about him at graduation and it was presented to his parents.

Interestingly, my daughter just moved back to this area with her minister husband (He's at St Luke's in Walhalla) and they now live in Port Santorini, just a block down from where Keith had the accident. I think about him every single time I drive through there. May God grant rest to his soul and peace to his family.

Keith was one of the most lovable, "do anything to be your buddy" guys I remember from high school. We gave him a hard time for trying so hard to fit in our little clique, but truth be known, i really liked the guy. Among a few others, Keiths death hit me hard and matured me from my childhood and made me realize how short life is. I was raised in the community where the Lord took Keith, and I cannot find the words to describe the feeling I get to this day when I enter Port Santorini. I will remember Keith for as long as God sees fit to keep me on earth.
