Darlene Harper Fertig, 50, of Bonneau Beach, SC, a devoted homemaker, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 in a North Charleston hospital.

Her funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, March 23, 2011, in the First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow in St. John’s Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Relay for Life Team or the Youth Fund, 112 East Main St., Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

Mrs. Fertig was born April 18, 1960, in Seneca, SC, a daughter of Jimmy Ray Harper and Betty Jo Clark Harper. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, where she was a former secretary, a former team captain for Relay for Life, and where she was very active in the youth group. She was the former hospitality chairman for the Moncks Corner Relay for Life. Mrs. Fertig loved baking and caring for her family.

Surviving are, her husband, Ken C. Fertig; her parents of Seneca; two daughters, Katie Fertig and Kristen Fertig both of Bonneau Beach; a sister, Angie Bagwell of Anderson; a brother, Dwayne Harper of Seneca; her Mother-in-Law, Pat Fertig of North Charleston; and her loving dog, Cocoa Moe.
