Dr. Jimmy Ray Summey, 51, husband of Susan Kendall Summey, of 125 Barn Road, Seneca, SC, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at his residence.
A native of Oconee County, Dr. Summey was the son of the late Johnny Morris and Peggy Blackwell Summey. He was a social worker and counselor and obtained his PHD in Counseling Psychology from Hamilton University. Dr. Summey was a member of Open Door Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, Dr. Summey is survived by a brother: Johnny M. Summey Jr. of Anderson, SC; and a sister: Beth Neal and husband Andy of Seneca, SC.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from Open Door Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Davenport Funeral Home from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oconee County Humane Society, 1925 Sandifer Blvd., Seneca, SC 29678.

Saddened to hear of this. I haven't seen or talked to Jimmy in many years and I regret that now. I will always remember the many good times we had in school and at Parkway Baptist Church.
All of his family will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I was also a classmate of Jimmy, and a member of Parkway Bapist Church. I am very sorry to hear of loss of Jimmy. My deepest condolence go out to all of Jimmy's Family an friends. I will keep them all in my prayers.
