Peggy and I not only went to school together but we grew up together. We were best friends b4 high school but we went in different directions. We kept in touch with each other. She was a very sweet person who had to deal with many hardships in life including her only brother who was killed when he was 15 yrs old.
She passed away sometime after her mother in 1999. not sure of the year but was early 2000's. Her esophagus ruptured. She was home alone and didnt get to the hospital. She only has one sister still living. I will try to get in touch with her.
Peggy was a close friend and had a big heart. She lived a very troubled life due to the loss of her older brother Steve Gibson (14 years old) in a terrible car crash that claimed seven young boys on the unopened section of Hwy 28 above Halfway Branch. It is my personal opinion that she never got over his death when she was around 12 years old. She would often talk about him and found escape from reality , as many of us did in the 70's-80's, through substance abuse and alcohol. She was full of life and lived it fully as far as I know until we lost contact when I married and started my family. I have many good memories of her and only wish she could have found peace here on Earth. I am sure she joined Steve and is at peace now.
