Obituary for Sarah Holleman Plyler Mrs. Sarah Holleman Plyler passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, at the Foothills Presbyterian Community in Easley, SC. She was 92 years old. Wife of the late Carl Dixon Plyler - and eldest of three daughters of the late Whit and Edna Brock Holleman, of Seneca - she is survived by sisters Martha Holleman and Hannah Bullard (husband Dan); children Carl Jr., Whit, Bundy, and Sallie (husband Kent Wigington); grandchildren Braxton (Briana), Jacob (Keaton), Savannah, Zachary (Mandi), Hunter, Anna, Audrey, and Noah; and great-granddaughters Gabrielle and Ceselly. Mrs. Plyler was born, and lived most of her life in Seneca, SC. A graduate of Queens College, in Charlotte, she also received a masters degree from Clemson, in 1952 – the third woman to do so. She was a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing and studied music at Queens College, Furman University, and Juilliard. She also enjoyed being a member of the DAR and was an avid supporter of Clemson sports. She will be remembered by the many hundreds of high school students she taught, over a career that spanned more than forty years. Her final resting place will be, with her husband, in the Tabernacle community of Lancaster, SC. A graveside ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 17 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church. The family asks that those wishing to honor her memory please donate to their favorite charity, in lieu of flowers.
