I loved Col. McConnell. He stood for what was right and really made an impact in my life as he did many others.

I remember I once got in a fight with a girl in his class and he asked me why I delivered that beat down and I told him she called me the N-word and he said I don't blame you, you should have beat her down. I will always love him for that.

He did not send me to the office of anything and he could have gotten me suspended or expelled for that beat-down. He always stood for what was right.

You could find no one who loved his country and his students more than the Colonel. We could all use a dose of McConnellism these days. Never turn your back on your God, your country, your school, or your friends. Col McConnell sir, here's to you. God Bless America.

Prior to Col. McConnell he was extremely sick, he had numerous health problems. He had Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes with diabetic ulcers that could not heal properly.  He was a very PROUD MAN until the end. He and his wife had a long and wonderful years of marriage. Even when he was sick he took care of his wife and vice versa.  It was a sad day when he passed away.  For those people who did not get the chance to meet the man missed out on knowing just what type of person he was.  He has great stories to tell one and all who would listen.  God Bless His Soul for now he is at peace.  He either passed away in 2001 or 2002 I can't remember which

The Colonel was another fine teacher that SHS was blessed with. He was always fair and straight forward with anything he said or done. I respected him to the upmost. He was also a great veteran to his country. I throughly enjoyed my Biology classes with him and just knowing him in general. Great man and will be dearly missed.
