,It is with great sadness that we are writing to you today. Our father, Bill Deutchman, passed away last night after a brave battle with ALS. Your love and support meant so much to him and our family. Thank you for all of the phone calls, e-mails, donations, guitar jam sessions, personalized songs, homemade treats, and visits. They really brought him joy during this dark time.

A graveside service will be held at Zion cemetery (masks required) at 10:30am on Sunday 12/12.

Shiva
We will be holding a shiva/condolence call on Zoom to celebrate our dad’s life the following evening (Monday 12/13) from 8pm until at least 9pm. We’ll do a brief couple of prayers at first and then people who would like to say something can take turns doing so thereafter. Zoom info is as follows:

Bill was the bass player in my first “paying” band (1966?) Rehearsals were in his big basement on Shaker Blvd. and Bill, like all great bass players was a tower of strength, stability, calm , competence and musical taste, all things that you need in a ‘garage band’. A great, fun guy in school, it was always a pleasure to encounter him downtown or at the reunions. I’ll miss him and remember him fondly. My condolence to Bill’s family.
