I am SO sorry to see this notice about Melanie Kay!!  We lived down the street from each other growing up, and when someone mentioned her at the SoCal mini-reunion last summer I asked them to tell her that I would like to hear from her.  I never did hear from her and now, unfortunately, I never will crying.

Melanie and her sister Jamie were part of a Saturday morning theater workshop at the old Drury Theatre on Euclid Ave. Jamie and I got selected to appear live on the Mr. Jingling show when we were in grade school and Melanie often came with her sister.  I remember getting ribbed first year at Byron.. Some of the boys would go "Mr. Jingling, how you tingaling " when I walked by. All good.   Mr. Jingling a strange dude for sure.  So was Barnaby. So was Captain Penny. So was Ghoulardi...But all good! We wouldn't be who we are without their influence! Anyway Melanie a nice girl, cute, sweet..... she contributed to good memories of those days!  RIP Melanie Kaye!!!

Very sorry to learn of Melanie's passing. I remember her from our time at Lomond. She was a fun person and had a wonderful sense of humor. May her passing be a blessing. 😞

I was shocked to hear of Melonie's passing. We grew up in the same neighborhood and shared alot of memories from the early days.Although we had not been in touch for many years when I heard of her passing the memories came back like I was watching a movie. The good old days as many of us remember when we lose old friends and acquaintances.May Melonie rest in peace and my ddpest sympathies to all friends and family

I was kind of in awe of Melanie when I met her in junior high. She exuded a cool composure in looks and movements. On a personal level, the cool factor was coupled with real warmth and I valued our friendship. Like others in our class, Melanie's passing saddens me and is a reminder to appreciate every minute.

I'm sorry to hear of Melanie's death. My condolences to her family. I actually remember her best from our Byron years, in particular when she played Caddie Woodlawn in the play of the same name! I admired her so much! Anyway I'm sad she is no longer with us.

I have such fond memories of Melanie from Lomond Elementary. She was the object of my first crush. I mourn her loss.

She was a beautiful soul which matched her genuine smile. May she rest in peace.

For years, I had a hidden affection for Melanie (well, it's no longer a secret). I doubt she ever knew my name. So it is with great sadness that I now come to terms with her loss, but I take comfort in the memories of her and my unspoken fascination.

I had several lovely get togethers with Melanie in Berkeley. It was so great  to connect and share Shaker and Berkeley stories. I wish I had had more time with her.  Janis
