I remember this guy ( The Shakerite ) always pounding me for a comment. Good person  and classmate.

For many years I lived in far northern California, not far from Jimmy and we'd get together from time to time. It was always great to see him and I'm saddened to hear of his passing.

I remember Jimmy always smiling playing third base- he had a strong arm and could make the throws.   Heard he was in NorCal like me, but a little further North- up in the emerald triangle, and I was never able to find a contact number for him. We all have  moments in our wild, innocent youth when are hearts are on fire and then we "grow" up and disperse and forget them.. Then 50yrs later we hear a song, or see a bumper sticker or photo, or smell something cooking, or see a death notice and it triggers THE feeling and you realize that fire is burning in your soul forever... Peace ya'll!

Our SHHS class consisted--as far as I was concerned--of 600+ remarkably intelligent, talented, unique individuals.  I always felt Jimmy was among the most exceptional.

Personally, I was crestfallen to learn of Jimmy's death (from Todd Bayer, one of my beloved, life-long Shaker friends).  Like Drew, I am deeply saddened to be learning about the loss of an increasing number of classmates, no matter the inevitablility of any single life extinguished.

Like everyone, I am very saddened to hear that Jimmy has passed. He was such a great guy. I always hoped we'd reconnect at a reunion but he was never at the events I was able to attend. Besides just being a wonderful all-around human being, my memory banks logged him as getting perfect SAT scores. I know he was gifted with abundant intelligence, and that smile........

I have very fond memories of working with Jimmy on the Shakerite when I was editor. As noted above, he was a dogged reporter. I'm sorry I didn't stay in closer touch with him.

Jim Lamport was one of the most decent human beings I ever knew. He was super smart and very caring.  And talk about a skilled individual; he built his house in California with his own two hands!  I miss him already, even though our in person visits became rarer as we both got older. Still, the few times we did get together in the last quarter of his life, it was always wonderful to be around him.

Jimmy was my homeroom buddy, friend, confidant and advisor during my Shaker years.  He was incredibly smart, super funny and a loyal and trusted friend.  I don't think I would have survived my high school years without him. He left a lasting impression on my heart and I'm sure he is greatly missed by many.

All comments about Jimmy are so true. Jimmy and I were close friends in elementary school (Belvoir). Played sports together and were in same classes for years. Back then, he had all those talents and attributes. It's interesting how he touched so many of us. Despite really being special, he was humble and mindful of others. Truly a humane soul and incredibly bright.
