Many people have been asking details about how and when the classmates listed here died. In some cases, people were not even aware that a particular person listed had passed away.

If you were close to one of them, please click "Post Response" and let others know some of the details. If you have a personal story about one of those listed, please consider sharing it with the rest of the class.

Dan O'Brien

Hi, it is Dan O'Brien. I did not know Paul well, however, I remember seeing him I believe, in his sleeveless down coat walking to school many times as my bus drove buy.
He struck me as someone who was calm, and decent. A soft spoken, cool kind of guy...

Paul was a good friend of my brother, Dan Turen. I can't remember the exact year that he died but it was shortly after graduation. I left Shakopee in 1988 and it was before that. I remember that his girlfriend came home from college for the funeral. The funeral was so sad and so happy at the same time. So many people got up to speak about what a wonderful person Paul was and they were right.  I don't know if most people remember Paul during high school but he had severe heart problems and had surgery at least once. He was a quiet, unassuming person but good and decent to core of his being. It makes me sad all over again to think about how young he was when the world lost him. If you have any memories of Paul, you shoud post them. My most vivid memory of him was when I left my wallet on the top of my car at the bank. Paul picked it up and followed me all the way to my house to give it back to me.

Paul and I grew up in adjacent neighborhoods.  I have some very early memories of spending time with him.  I recall that he couldn't rough house -- though, being very young, I didn't know or understand why.  What I remember most about Paul was his infectious laugh.  He had a twinkle in his eye, a kind of crooked smile, and an irresistable laugh.  I wish I had gotten to know him better.

I also remember when Paul's dad died.  We were in grade school I think.  It still breaks my heart to recall the funeral.  I can only imagine their wonderful reunion in heaven.
