Tanya Dawn Wooten, 50, of Shallotte died May 24, 2020 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Tanya was born February 9, 1970 in New Hanover County and was the daughter of the late William David Wooten and Katy Diane Wooten.

She was a former police officer with the Holden Beach Police Department and she also served with the Brunswick County Sheriffs Department.

She is survived by two sons, Dalton Michael of Ash, Jarod Wooten of Shallotte; two brothers, Terry Wooten and Rodney Wooten of Shallotte; a nephew, Joseph Wooten of Shallotte.
