May I somber up the forum for a moment? :) Someone sent me a comment recently about the slideshow, particularly the memorial section. They said, “I got up and watched it this morning and as it was playing I was thinking how different everybody was during school - you know the football players, cheerleaders, band geeks etc. But… when it got to the memorial slides it just brings it home that we are all alike.” Would you guys agree or disagree? What were your thoughts as you watched the memorial section of the slideshow... how did you interpret it? I'm interested in your thoughts and will probably do a blog post on this soon.

Aaron, I totally agree with that person. We are all alike. It doesn't matter how much money you have or make, your color of skin or how popular you are. We all have feelings, dreams, hopes and fears. It brought you down to reality that you are here today but nothing is promised for tomorrow. Hats off to the "Class of 88".....

The slide show was great. The memorial section was extremely moving. Just remembering Belinda, Meliana, Scott, Detra, and Melissa. I knew Belinda and Meliana well. Really sobering to think about how short life really is. Makes you want to appreciate every moment you have...and all of the people that have made a difference in your life.

I am so glad to have known such great people...and hope that I won't hesitate to show that every opportunity that I get. That includes ALL OF YOU.

Got Photos?  Upload your best reunion photos to Photobucket, Flickr, Picasa, etc. and send me the link.  I'll then post everyone's link so we can share pics. This seems to be the easiest way to share photos... I tried to find a way to pool them all together, but it was either too complicated or we'd run out of storage space too quick. Let me know if you have questons.

My husband and I are still talking about the reunion. I think he had as much fun as I did. It was so good to see everyone. There seemed to be a nice overtone the entire weekend and it has even carried over into my work-week. My co-workers want to say "thank you". Thanks to all who helped get it together and also to those who came! I can't wait for our 26th year reunion. I might get the early bird award :) Until then I will be brushing up on my 80s trivia.

I was just informed today that Mrs. Cook's husband passed away while they were returning from an out of state trip. I believe he had a heart attack. The obituary is now availalble online here. You can also sign the guest book at this link, offering your condolences. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, January 26, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Bennett, Jim Lancaster, Bobby Pierce, Rick Treadway and Dr. Jim Wellons officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until service time.

Unless anyone is opposed, we'll be sending Mrs. Cook some flowers from the SHS Class of 1988. (using our reunion fund)

Okay Aaron, I think I know who that teacher is on the blog. Is it Mrs. Equals, If I remember right she came in after the school year started, took Mrs. Jacksons place who moved away.

JP, you're correct, the photo of the "mystery" teacher is Debbie Equels.

Had a school flashback today, was in wal-mart this morning and seen Mrs Waller our 6th grade reading teacher. Then was visiting and having lunch with Aaron and his kids and got to visit with Mrs Rainbolt. Was in the parking lot saying bye to Aaron, and Laurette and her husband drove up and talked to us a few minutes, it was great.

Thanks for the visit Jon Paul, it was fun.

Mrs. Rainbolt - to my surprise - had not changed one bit! She even remembered going Christmas caroling w/ the honor society and making a stop at my grandparents house. She's got a better memory than I do.

Jon Paul (and Laurette) also informed me that Mrs. Rainbolt has an auto-biographical book out now. Laurette said she read the entire thing in one setting! I'll soon be posting some info here and/or on the blog about the book. For now, I'm aware that you can purchase the book at McCoy-Tygart Drugstore or Gibbs.

Please remember our classmate, Kenny Johnson, in your prayers. Kenny fell from a ladder this weekend and broke his lower right leg (both bones). He's having surgery today to have rods put in and will be recovering in the hospital for a few days. If you'd like to send your well-wishes or go see him, he's at St. Vincent's in LR, Room 4034. Or you may leave him a message here or on his profile page. You can find his mailing address on his profile page as well, in case you want to send an old-fashion get-well card. Thanks guys!

I remember Mrs. Equals. She was one of my favorites. Aaron, I remember her being a STL Cardinals fan because they won the Series the year I was in her class. We had a connection through that because I was a big Cards fan too.

If memory serves, she and her husband owned the Sonic when it first opened in Sheridan. She left midway through the 82-83 year to move to KC. Christy Eggburn's mom replaced her.

Thanks for letting me drop in.

That's weird Jamie... I'm positive it was KC Royals, because Trent was a big Royals fan too & they always yucked it up about the team.

But... I have been known to be wrong before. :)
