D. Stanford Crane "Stan" Dennis Stanford Crane passed away suddenly and tragically from a heart attack due to a thickened heart wall (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) on Friday, February 18, 2006 at the age of 33. He was born October 16, 1972 in Gunnison, Utah to Dennis and Fay Loy Barney Crane. Stan was raised in Salina, Utah and moved to Sheridan, Wyoming at the age of 15 where he graduated from High School. After high school, he moved with his family to Monticello, Utah and received his mission call. Stan served as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Guatemala City South Mission. After his mission he met and married the love of his life, Carmen Foutz, in the Manti, Utah Temple. He graduated from Weber State University with a BS degree in Computer Science while working as a programmer for CH2M Hill. Stan later started his own computer programming company, NorthFace Solutions. Stan was an avid bicycle racer and outdoorsman. As long as his wife and boys were with him, he enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, camping, hiking and golfing. For the past many years, Stan has served as a youth leader in the East ridge Second Ward, Sandy, Utah where he positively impacted the lives of many young men and women. Stan lived and loved life. He was a master storyteller and goof-off. He was full of energy, and always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He had plenty of projects, whether it was work, home improvement, church, community service or coaching little league. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Foutz Crane, his three sons, Zach, Hyrum, and Caleb; his parents, Dennis and Fay Loy Crane, Monticello; his brothers Dexter (Merinda) Crane, Riverton; Benjamin (Wendy) Crane, Monticello; Jared Crane, Monticello; Sam (Chanelle) Crane, Blanding; Luke (Bridget) Crane, Cedar City; and his sisters Candice (Richard) Elton, Morgan, and Denice (Camron) Cafferty, West Valley; LoyRetta (Tyler) Hall, Cedar City; and his grandmother Faye Barney, Richfield. He was preceded in death by his Grandma and Grandpa Crane and his Grandpa Barney. A viewing will be held Thursday, February 23 at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E 10600 S, Sandy) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Draper Eastridge Stake Center (1190 E 12270 S, Sandy) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24 with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens. Stan, a man of character, principle, and faith, will be sorely missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to University of Utah Credit Union in the name of Carmen Crane Boy's Trust.

Leslie Sweem (Harder)

Being anywhere near Stan made you smile.  It is not often you find a person that can have an effect on an entire area.  He made me laugh at a least a 1000 times.  What a loss.
