Tim Dowden


Tim Dowden, age 61, passed away with his wife at his side on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX after an illness.

Tim was born on July 27, 1954 in Sherman, TX to Gerald and Bitty Little Dowden of Sherman. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1972. He went to work not long after graduation at Fisher Control where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 2009. During his time at Fisher Control, he met his wife Terry and they were married on October 11, 1980. He enjoyed his time at Fisher, and also bowling leagues and playing Golf.

After his children were born he started coaching little league baseball, soccer and basketball. He loved watching his kids play sports and going to dance recitals. Tim was very active with his children's interests and always supported them.

When his children were grown and he began having granddaughters he could not wait to watch them play sports. Softball became his favorite sport but he also loved to watch them cheer and play basketball.

He loved his dogs and spent lots of time babying and spoiling them. He lost his best friend Tyson the boxer in June of 2015 and losing him broke his heart.

Tim also loved his friends and telling them about his kids, grandkids and his puppy's. He was very loved by so many people and his family.

Tim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Terry Dowden of Sherman, TX, son, Jeffery Dowden of Sherman, TX, daughter, Jennifer Brown and husband Kory of Bells, TX, two granddaughters, Bailey and Brendal Brown of Bells, TX, sister, Jerre Dowden Lett of Sherman, TX, two sister in laws, Sharan Garner and Linda Henderson of Oklahoma and his aunt, Betty Sue LeBrun of Sherman, TX, two nieces, Danielle Mitchell and Lindsey Kittrell, three nephews, Ray Garner, Chris Garner and Reggie Capps. He is also survived by his dogs, Tinker, Rusty, Rylee and Cricket, and his outlaw, Mike Brown.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother, Philip Dowden and his beloved dog Tyson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 22nd from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, TX.
