"Steve was born January 19, 1954, in Sherman to the late Raymond W. "Buster" Klas and Lena Eveline (Hill) Klas. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1972. He was active in FFA, serving as president of the Sherman chapter and also served as an office3r at the state level. After high school, he attended East Texas State University and was a member of the Sigma Epsilon fraternity. Mr. Klas worked with his father and brother in real estate development and construction in the Sherman area for many years. He also worked as a stock broker. An avid fisherman, Steve also worked some as a fishing guide. He loved horses and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Klas is survived by three children, Jason Klas of Sherman, Jeremy Klas of Sherman, and Joni Klas of Pottsboro; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Matthews, Jayden Klas, Kailee Collier, and Haley Klas; one brother, Phillip Klas of Sherman; several cousins;and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents." Services for Steve were held on June 2 at Waldo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the East Sherman Baptist Church at 910 E. King, Sherman, TX 75090.
