50-Year Reunion

General Info: The 50th Year Class Reunion took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on November 7th, 8th, and 9th. For more details, click the 50th Year Class Reunion link on the left.
Friday featured the casual get-together (pay as you go) at McGinty's, Irish Pub, 911 Ellsworth Drive (not far off Georgia Ave., between Wayne Ave. and Colesville Rd. starting at 7:00 p.m.  Some members of the class of '59 joined us there.
Saturday morning Mary Cipolari arranged a brunch at Northwood at 10:00, followed by a tour of the school around 11:00. Dr. Johnson, the current principal, showed us the amazing technology and high quality of instruction now in the newly renovated and reopened Northwood. There were also some members of the class of '59.
There was a walking tour of the new Silver Spring area Saturday 1:00 p.m.. I understand only four showed up.
The venue for the Saturday banquet was the Crowne Plaza on Georgia Ave. It started with a cash bar cocktail hour (with munchies) at 6:00 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner. Followed by a class photo (above).

Sunday morning, a visit to the Brookside Botanical Gardens in Wheaton was planned.

Great thanks and appreciation go to the "informal" committee (no one wants to claim credit - or blame) that planned and executed these reunion events. Nelson L., who served as detective, tracer of lost persons, and instigator. Shiela S. and Judy G., who were "on the ground" in Silver Spring making the arrangements. Mary C., who organized the brunch at Northwood. Bob S., the treasurer. Gale D., who sent out invitations. If there was anyone else who contributed, please let me know. Also, please, if you have any pics from the renuion (I noticed lots of cameras flashing), please forward them to me and I will post them on this site. - Steve Leibowitz
