Golf Survey
Posted Wednesday, May 6, 2009 07:22 PM

Hey Jim,

Just curious, how many times can I put my vote in on the golf survey?

Just once Steve.  It's starting to look like either Two Rivers or Covington.  Whispering Creek has their member/guest that weekend and Green Valley has their club championship that weekend.  Two Rivers will give us tee times but not sure if they'll let me reserve 4 of them without giving money up front and Covington at last check still doesn't do tee times...just  a first come first served but I'll check into that.

Olie,

I just changed my vote from Whispering to Two Rivers. (better than Covington) Two Rivers now ahead in votes over Covington.  I was wondering same as you as I voted again on food menu and voted a second time for "COPENHAGEN" as after dinner snack and it changed my vote as you can see. So votes only count once, but can be changed. So everyone change their course to Two Rivers and tee time to 9-10   so we dont have to get up at 6 am after drinking all night!

P.S. Maybe Jim could put down a credit card number for his good ole class of '84 at Two Rivers to hold tee times with option to cancel 24 hours prior and we can pay once we arrive.    Or give us phone number with block of tee times and we can call ourselves to prepay by credit card.

Two Rivers is Jim's home course..... Like he needs the advantage.

Ritch,

I added to my buffet selection also.  It's a few lines below yours, I'm sure you can figure out which one it is.

I originally voted for Covington as I'm not too fond of Two Rivers. But if it's Jim's home course as Lee stated, I may have to switch to Two Rivers.  It will be fun taking him down on his home course.  We' ll have to do something with that lethal 6 iron of his.

Steve;

Jim plays for money, I play for the love of the game and to make my usual contribution to those guys who find lost golf for recycling.  Jim spends so much time on the course selling used golf balls may be a career option for him if the whole pharmacist thing falls through.

Olie,

Thats what I like to hear, stepin' up and takin on the Iowa state champ on his own course! Yeah baby! And even with a big Skoal buzzzz..... Let me know if I need to change my vote to swing it to Covington, not a big deal to me really. More fun to watch you in the underdog role while chewin, drinkin and playing visitor on Jims course!

Lee,

Did Jim say pharmacist or pharmacy tech in his profile? Major difference in the amount of time he will be out of commission whilst studying!  Either way, I am sure he has more time to golf than most  with the exception of  those employed by the government that live down south with 12 months of golf weather. (excluding you Lee,of course!)

Jim,

Talked to Bob Prenger last Friday, thought for sure he was going to sign up. Looks like Phelps  got us to 100 though!  He at least said he would show up Friday, whatever you come up with for us to do.

Lee,

In your opinion is Covington better course usually than Two Rivers or vise versa? Or not a big deal to you? I have never played Covington that I can recall. Mike Amundson and I were gonna play it years ago, but I think they had a tourney and we ended up golfing somewhere else.

Ritch...why in the world would you ask Lee (All elbows and knees) Jones what course is better?  He might be aptly suited to answer which courses have the best windmill holes or the best hit it in the clown's mouth hole.

Covington and Two Rivers are quite a bit alike in that that both have a LOT of trees.  Having played both courses in a tournament a couple of weeks ago, right now Covington is in much better shape but by July both courses should be in good shape.  Two Rivers is quite a bit shorter than Covington but Covington adds a lot more variability with all different kinds of holes and options.  Two Rivers has tiny greens where Covington's greens are gi-normous.  It doesn't matter to me where the golf is played ...appears that there is also an East high reunion golf outing that day at Two Rivers.

Jim,

Just making conversation with the man. Wanted to know whether he dislikes Two Rivers or simply just doesnt want to give you home course advantage. Based on your response, sounds like you have home course advantage either way being the local S.C. golf tourney player that you are.

Thanks for the in depth course description. Like I said, I have never played Covington, but from your description sounds like it might be the better option for us.

P.S. Was it you and Berger or Bart that Pete Bruecken called the "Spill Brothers"?  Or maybe it was Berger and Bart? How's that for some useless longterm  memory retention?

I don't remember anything regarding "Spill Brothers" so it may be someone else or that one has been eternally forgotten.  I don't remember much about Bruecken's freshman physical science class other than he had some homemade computer in there and how cool he thought it was.  You might have to post that question to Bart or Berger to see if they remember.  Freshman year is mostly a blur. I remember outlining sentences in Mrs. Vizintos' class along with reading The Merchant of Venice and The Pearl.  Tom Stuart was my locker partner and I think I had two study halls.  I remember the first social when the sophomores tried to put Nair down a bunch of freshman guys' pants...my brother was nearby that night so thankfully I didn't get harassed by that.  I remember being the manager for Burchard and Schultz in football and Denny Cron was my basketball coach.  I remember that I threw the shot in track and baseball was on JV and we played the last year at the CYO field by Sun Valley Golf Course. I ran for homeroom rep on student council and the only vote I got was my own. A few senior girls were awfully good looking (Sarah Sudbeck, Vicki Kruse and Shelly Goergen)....that's about it.  Maybe I was too much of a wallflower that year cuz I remember a lot more about the last 3 years.

Ritch;

Jim had to turn to golf when he lost his ability to hide his athletic ineptitude in running, basketball, baseball, etc.  While I enjoy a leisurely stroll around the links, I have yet to turn to golf for the majority of my workout regimen  as Jim obviously does. That is when his back is not acting up or his hamstring is not inflamed.....

I have never golfed Two Rivers, but always liked Covington.  Anyplace with lots of shade the end of July back home will be welcomed.  I spend about half my round in and around the trees on any course I am on anyway....

Jim,

Alright you win in the category of "useless memory retention"!

Lee,

That almost sounds poetic! What did you say you do for a living?

For Christ sakes, I can't believe the amount of discussion about where to play golf at the reunion.  As Olson stated earlier, except for Tritz and Warden (and maybe Olson), there's probably very little golfing talent involved as we're all a bunch of hacks.  Pretty soon, Jones will be asking about pin placements before he agrees to golf at a particular course.  As long as there's a beer cart available, no complaining.

When did Puetz become so religious?

Do we have to copy and paste our USGA Handicap Card and meet certain guidelines in order to qaulify for discussions around which golf courses are even going to allow us to play. It appears the option to play 5 different courses has diminished to just one course through these discussions. Looks like its going to be Covington!  ;-)

Pin placements?  When are we going to fit bowling into the weekends agenda?  Better get hot Jim, we'll need about 10 lanes.........

Why bother, it's waaaaay to easy.

Take a look at the time of Lee's last two posts. Does appear that, we,  the tax payers are paying his F'n salary to post.  Lee, don't you have some $100 paperclips to purchase?

I am pretty sure my golf partner was trying to be facetious in his incorrect spelling of "grammar".

Just finished playing 54 holes over the past 24 hours, with the last 36 played in 40's degree temperature, 25 mph wind, and rain.  I really like Lee's idea for a bowl-a-thon.   I've never lost feeling in my extremities in a bowling alley.

Jim;

Really?  Thought this "cool new forum" had a functional spell checker?  Please tell the web manager to quit changing my posts to add mis-spellings, the joke was funny the first time but it's getting rather old.

Steve;

Had to cut back on the "$100 paper clip" orders when they took most of the federal budget to bailout all of those idiots in the insurance industry......

John;

Seems like allot of work in questionable conditions for the old golf game.  Running scared, are we?   :-)

Lee, it does have a spell checker.  You just have to run it.  When you are creating a message there is a little green check mark with the letters ABC up in the tool-bar.  When you click on that it will do a spell check for you.  Unfortunately it doesn't catch things like when Olson says "to" when he meant to put in "too" or it doesn't catch when you type "allot" which is a word but it doesn't mean the same thing as "a lot" which would have been the proper usage in your comments to Puetz.

What Puetz doesn't tell you is that he had arthroscopic knee work done less than 10 days before he played golf for three days in a row.  He should have waited at least another week or more before trying to do any rotating on that repaired meniscus.  Hopefully he didn't damage it any further and thus has more excuses for his poor play on July 25th.

Gee thanks for the tutorial, Jim.  Look up facetious when you get the chance.  I know how to run spell checker, but since you have so much free time on your hands I leave a few little errors in all of my post to give you something to do to pass the time.

Puetz will be fine,  we both will "self medicate" with the beer cart during our round if we have any minor aches and pains to contend with.  You, on the other hand; with your medical record posted on all of these forums will have laid the ground work for numerous excuses to have handy when a bunch of drunken "hacks" hand it to you come July.
