Steve, don't let the demons get into your head.  And don't ever say the "S" word when talking about a golf shot!

"S" word? I say shit all the time when I golf!!

RE: Golf Pairings

Not that "S" word....the one that resembles our baseball coach's last name from high school.  First name Joe.

Once you utter that word on the course it embeds itself deep into the medulla oblongata and screws around with you when you least expect it.  30 yds from the green and an easy little chip and oops there it goes.  Of course, the  main culprit of that disease is that you are getting your weight too far up on your toes and therefore hitting the ball with the hosel of the club instead of the face.  Just concentrate more on an even balance of your weight between the toes and heels with slight emphasis on the balls of your feet, make a balanced swing and those satanic missed shots will go away.

The Broccoli Walnut Salad is making a comeback. What is wrong with you people!!

I goofed on that...actually it's broccoli bacon salad and it's pretty yummy.  Voting on the sides ends today though.

I want it and I have already voted. Come on people save the broccoli!!!

The S word is side dishes or salads now?  Thought this was a golf forum!  BTW, thanks for the chipping tip there Jim, may be too much for Steve to process while trying to hit a little ball sitting right in front of him.......

Did you ever find Mahaneys check?  Allot of work to save the price of postage if you ask me.

Jim, or any of the base-ballers.  Not you Puetz, you were JV.  I'm talking Varsity.

What ever happened to Coach Shanks?  Did he stay at Heelan long after our senior season or was his heart broken after our last game with West in the District finals, getting beat down the way we did.  Also, I was looking at the top ten season records on Heelan's website and don't see our senior year.  Wasn't our record something like 33-8?  33 victories would get us in the top ten.

Steve, Shanks coached a couple more years after us at Heelan and I think the year after us they went to state.  Now he is the AD/Dean of Students at Ft. Dodge St. Edmonds and has been there for quite a while.  The Heelan record books are kind of a traveshamockery as they don't have a lot of years' stats in there.  We did finish 33-8 and we should have gone all the way had we thrown some slow hanging lefthanded curveballer against West.  As it was, we got thumped.  It still irks me about the quote from their fat-ass coach in the paper where he said "They (Crusaders) couldn't get the ball over the plate. We had that trouble last year.  When they put it in there, we hit it (this time). They panicked. I've been there, I know what it's like."

Panicked!!!  Just wanted to tell him to sit down and eat some more cheeseburgers.  Ask Stabile on this one.  He and I had a conversation with the base ump during one of the pitcher changes and the base ump couldn't believe that the plate ump (near sighted Steve Owens) wasn't calling strikes, as Wengert was pasting the corners.  Oh well, water under the bridge.  We lost. I still don't remember why I was playing short that game cuz I was in right field most of the second half of the year and I think Conlon was at short.

Enough of this though....this is the golf forum, move this over to a new topic in a different forum or we'll discuss it in 17 days.

Jim;

Great advice, sure Steve is probably holding his head and babbling incoherently about now - sure he  will mirror the famous Charles Barkley swing in a few weeks.  Maybe he can be next years Hank Haney project on the Golf Channel?

I thought we were not to use that word. Tritz, I am really getting a mixed message from you. I truly believe it is all part of a master plan to add to my already hefty handicap. Does anybody else believe that Tritz is trying tirelessly to get into all of our heads, as to have all of us play our worst game ever on the 25th? I would love to hear from all of you on this subject. It is one thing to have "Game", it is pretty sad when you have to utilize gorilla warfare to insure your dominance!!! Unbelievable!!!

Okay, after playing my 2nd 18 hole round since May last night, I've concluded that my team needs more strokes, unless Skinner's playing to a scratch, Stabile to a 5 handicap and Niles to a 10.

I had the skankopotumus "Olsonitis" disease.  Does anyone else play a fade (actually more of a push) with the driver and a draw with the irons (actually more of a dead hook)?  And is three putting on 5 holes bad?

RE: Golf Pairings

What word is that Jerry?  Rules?  I know, all those  Footjoy wedges you do are against the rules but c'mon. Fair is fair.  You'll do fine.  I'm not trying to get in anyone's head (do you breathe in or out during your backswing?).

Puetz, one cure for your problems may be to actually put the beer down when you make a swing, or try doing it with your left hand...I hear it has a similarity to someone else doing it for you.

RE: Golf Pairings
Posted Thursday, July 9, 2009 08:18 AM

Puetz - welcome to my world, inconsistent as hell, 10x2 for my handicap and some.  I had a five putt the other day and you can only imagine how many strokes it too to get to the green.  I thought you were going to be the medalist?

Tritz is a snake in the grass......he was featured in the print version of yesterday's Journal in the Golf section under "what's in his bag!"   They outlined all his clubs, etc, including his old Billy Barue, "Hey Billy, Billy, Billy, Billy wood putter!

Niles, we're f..k'd.  I thought about taking a lesson, but that usually makes things worse.

Tritz, I forgot to ask, this Two Rivers course isn't one of those fancy courses which makes you wear a shirt when you play?  Usually when I take my shirt off, my playing partners get sick to their stomachs, and it gives me a little advantage.

RE: Golf Pairings
Posted Thursday, July 9, 2009 08:57 AM

It is not "what's in his bag" rather "what is his bag". We are all little sheep being led to slaughter.  John and Rick,  if we play best ball, I think life will be good. I know Skinner has been playing his ass off. Believe it or not, I can putt. Tritz will tell you a different story, but it seems that old Tritz has been telling a lot of different stories as of late!

Two Rivers can't be that "fancy" if they granted membership to Jim.  It will be hard enough golfing with my own foursome without the sight of Puetz wearing his high school Daisy Duke shorts sans shirt on the fareways in front of us for 18 holes.  Shudder........

I still need money from the following people....posting it here so others can lambast them.

Niles
Puetz
Stabile
Skinner
Joynt
Campbell
The Olberdings
The Swineharts

Remember:  If you don't pay me ahead of time, no golf.  It's not that I don't trust you all but I  just don't want to get stuck again just for being a nice guy.

Here's your Two Rivers scorecard and course map.  To make it more fair for all of you pansies, I will play from the Black (back) tees and you can play from the Blue (middle).

RE: Golf Pairings
Posted Monday, July 13, 2009 12:18 PM

It's only 6000 from the tips? Anyone wanting to play any other tees than black should wear a skirt. I think Puetz was already planning to wear one, so that will work out fine..........

Ah Mogren, you of anyone should know the course, having grown up there as one of the Boat Club Elitists...the fairways are narrow, the greens are small and there are lots of trees except on the two new holes (16 & 17).  It will be a fair test for all who play, just don't short-side yourself.

I only wish knowledge of the course could make up for lack of skills.........

Guys a heads up if you found your letter with the check to Jim Tritz in your car today. You can call Two Rivers and Pay with a Credit Card for the golf outing on the 25th. Rod (Golf Pro) is not in today, but will be in tomorrow. I talked to some kid who did not have the computer skill required to access the credit card machine, however, he told me that you could pay in advance by credit card, "He has seen it done". Could save Jimbo some work and accounting!!

J. Stabile

RE: Golf Pairings

Jerry,

If you pay directly by credit card, it's only $25.  So for Jim to skim $10 from us, you have to send the check directly to him, made out to the Jim Tritz slush fund.

RE: Golf Pairings
Posted Monday, July 13, 2009 04:11 PM

No, it's $35 regardless.  And if you send me the check, I can hold on to it in case we have inclement weather preventing us from playing and just give you back your check.  That way Two Rivers doesn't get your money and then give you a rain check to play another time.  Just a thought.

Send it out tomorrow Jerry, I should get it by the end of the week.  And no more "check is in the mail" comments unless it is truly in the mail.  Why I oughta

RE: Golf Pairings

I could have used the other saying that is used as an example just like the "check is in the mail", but that would not be nice.  But I promise, I will not say that to you.  Anyway, can't they just credit the account if it rains. Just looking at some ways to save you some work, and cover-up my procrastination. How about my old church, my folks were pretty upset about the fire. Old Nick Sr. got some press, he has been a member for 83 yrears, Yiks!!

Jim,  reading the silly little rules attached on the score card and need a clarification on the rules.  If a young tree is not marked and I have my axe with me, can I "move" the tree?  Also, why call the course two rivers if I don't see any water marked on the score card?  Not proud at all, I'll tee off as close as possible.....

Bull Sh!t Lee, there's money on the line, we all tee off on the same tee box.  I agree with Mogren, let's all go from the Black's.  I don't want Tritz to have any excuses after his beat down.

Jim, how's the ruff looking?

SIOUX CITY -- Firefighters are still investigating the blaze that severely damaged St. Joseph Church in Sioux City, but do not suspect foul play.

Sioux City Fire Rescue issued a statement today saying the department's investigators and officials from the church's insurance company will conduct their investigations once the damaged building's structural integrity has been analyzed.

Officials believe the fire, reported about 3:15 p.m. Friday, started in the attic and was likely an accident.
The pictures I saw showed a large hole in the roof.  I believe a fire clean-up crew has been hired but don't know if they have started working.   Now I better say something about golf or else Tritz will have another fit.   Play ball!

Jim-

I just got the check request today. I will send a check to you tomorrow, but you won't get it by your deadline. I am good for it- really!

I may try to do the credit over the phone thing first and see if I can get it taken care of that way.

Sorry to be the only unpaired ute, but we should be just fine. I have golfed a round, or 100, this year.

Looking forward to seeing everyone- see you soon.

Great!  We put the two ringers (Jim, and now Becky who golfs every day) in the same foursome.  I get shankopotomus Steve and the two Bopsy twins in my foursome.  Just how many strokes are they going to give the rest of our highly handicapped foursomes??????

Golf (There...I can post in this forum now...)

News on St. Joe's isn't good.  Klinger looked at the damage yesterday with the fire inspectors and insurance guys. The fire apparently started from a spark when a welder was working on some new copper gutters/ties on the south side of the church. It must have smoldered for hours then spread from there.  Lots of water and smoke damage, not to mention the gaping, charred holes in the roof.  It looks like a bomb dropped on it :( Not even sure how some of those burned trusses are staying up from the looks of things. They're supporting what's left of the water logged walls and plaster inside, so the site is off limits to anyone but "professionals", i.e. guys in hard hats. Fr. Mike's message on the diocesan website sounds pretty optimistic to me, especially after what our project manager saw and the pics he brought back. (Sorry to be a negative Nellie...)

No one was hurt (Thank God!) It's just so sad!! It was such a beautiful, peaceful place...

I mailed my check on Monday so you should have by the end of the week.  Unlike the rest of the group-except Becky-I can be trusted.  Although the mail out here is slow.  Some people are allergic to work and many work in goverment jobs-mostly for the state.

Jimbo,

I just placed a letter in the mail and it has your name on it!!!  I promise it is in the mail and will be there by August. Hey, they are still using the Pony Express out here in the west. I made it out to you, hope that was the plan, I could not find the old post with the instructions.  Have a great day!!

Lee, Puetz, and all others, be nice to each other. It is only a golf game and golf should be a friendly enjoyable experience. I for one am going to offer Tritz the opportunity to touch my balls before I tee off. It is friendly gestures such as this that makes this such a wonderful game. See Ya in a couple of weeks boys (and girls).

Skinner weaseled out cuz his kid has a baseball game in Sioux Falls that day.  Unlike Doug, his kid is at least still playing ball in late July.

Dave Bartholomew will be taking the place of Skinner in that foursome.

FYI and a real shocker to all of us, Tritz's team wins easily.  Where the h*** is Jeff Warden when you need someone to keep Jim in his place on the links?

Lee,   Jim planned this reunion when he knew I had another commitment  because he knew what would have happened.  At least that is the story I can spread now although he plays better on the Two Rivers track.

The 50th game will be at Sun Valley.....I bet Tritz gets in a round or two this week out there in preparation.  That course sets up well for Mr. Puetz with a lot of right to left's.

Count me in, 25 years to learn to draw the ball is about right for my skill level.  It was great seeing you Jeff and keep Jimmy in check for us on the course.

By our 50th, Sun Valley will be very inviting...9 holes, very few bunkers or trees, no water.  Perfect!  Hell that gives me 25 years to work on hitting a fade.

RE: Golf Pairings

Actually John, one actual bunker and some standing water in a marsh area by the 7th hole.  Found them both Monday when I took my boys and nephew there golfing....
