THE EMPIRE THEATRE
Posted Sunday, October 31, 2010 09:33 PM

The days of yester year. What a great time we had, going to the  shows at the Empire. If I remember right, it cost 10 cents on Saturday afternoon. I remember sitting with Kay Hall as if we were on a date (11 or 12 years old, I think). Sit there and watch the prelims of up coming shows and the pop corn and messing around, what a great time it was back then. Life was so much easier. The ushers would walk down the isles, shining their flash light to make sure the kids weren't doing anything wrong. Almost every Saturday we would be there having fun.

You're right it was always fun to WALK to the theatre on Sat and see all you buddy's there. One of my favorite goodese sp was juicy fruit just loved those. Sometimes because of $$$ had to decide between popcorn or juicy fruit. Al ways felt safe walking and sometimes my sister and I would hitch hike to go to the movie or Park Bowl .  Not sure if I would recomment that here in Cal now.NO WAY !!!!! . Things were so different back then and innocent we really did not know how could we had it kind of sad .

The people at my daily coffee group at the M'side McDonald's have been trying to remember the name of that theater for three months now. Thank you Jerry. Now if I can only remember it untill coffee time.:)

Us guys that lived over around Johnnie's Market on Glenn Avenue used to go to the Empire a lot on Friday nights when we were in 6th grade 1954/1955. You are correct. Times were more safe then, Bob.
