SIOUX CITY — The Morningside American Legion Post No. 697, along with other Sioux City area veterans groups, will be presenting a Pearl Harbor Day observance at 11 a.m., today, at the Peters Park flagpole, adjacent to the Morningside Branch Library, 4005 Morningside Avenue.

Members of Post No. 697 are being asked to meet at the Morningside Branch Library at 10:30 a.m., in order to carry flags and participate in the rifle squad march to the flagpole. Other veterans groups are invited to follow and assemble around the flag pole, according to Commander Richard Storm.

Iowa National Guard Col. Steve Warnstadt, a commander with the 671st Troop Command and a former Iowa state senator, will be the program's speaker. A rifle salute will be followed by the playing of Taps.

In the event of inclement winter, the observance will be held inside the Morningside Branch Library.
