THE EAST HIGH BOYS GYM

What a great place it was. All the basketball  practices we had week after week. The dances we had after football and basketball games. Memories of the good old days.  THOSE WERE THE DAYS.  During basketball practice, before coach Stevens would arrive, some of us little guys would run up the side walls and dunk the ball. That's the only way we could see what it was like to dunk a ball. If coach would have caught us doing that we probably would not  play the next game. We could have turned an ankle and that wouldn't have been good.  The smell of that old gym still is in my body when I think of the great times we had there.

The dances were the best. Great music, great girls and the time of my life. I did miss one of the dances, which was after the Boys Town football game as a senior. My ankle was torn up bad and they just took me home after the game. I remember some of our classmates did come to the house to see how I was doing, which I appreciated. What great memories.

Always had more good times at the after games sock hops then regular gym.  I remember all the real good looking girls were at the sock hops.  Always could see all your good friends.  I can remember the Bohan girls looking good all the time.  Not to many fights that I recall just a real good time . It was probably a little rough for Jerry W. since he had a crush on 2 of our class girls at the same time.  But knowing Jerry he was up to the challenge.

OH Boobie,  The girls were always nice. I loved to dance with them. I enjoyed dancing ever since I was little. That's why I took up tap dancing.(3 years worth) I had steady girl friends now and then. It was always nice to have someone to dance and cuddle with.
