MISSOURI RIVER

When I was a young teenager, my uncle, aunt and cousins would come back to visit from Colorado. My aunt's parents lived in So. Sioux City,Ne., right on the river. We had the greatest time swinging on a rope tied to a tree that hung over the river. We go out over the river and dropped down into the water and then swam back over to the shore. We did this over and over for the longest time. There's NO WAY today you could do something like that because the river has a much faster current. The river isn't that safe any more. There are still boaters and skiers on the river but they wear life jackets. For those of you that haven't been back to Sioux City for some time, you will see some differences in various areas through out Sooland. One of those would be the river. This year the river was very high since there was so much snow up north this winter that the water level was almost over the banks in So. Sioux City. Some campers had to move their motorhomes for a shot period of time. Sherry and Ron Hogan knows all about that.
