Barbara C. Grieve, 57, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Grieve was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Blue Island, Ill., the daughter of Samuel Newton and Theresa Helen (Albeck) Rains. She married Gary Grieve on July 28, 1962, at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

She lived in Harvey, Ill. as a young girl and moved to Sioux City in 1959. She attended Holmes Grade School in Harvey and then Thornton Township High School through the ninth grade. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1961.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking and walking. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and attending the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota. She enjoyed vacations in Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her husband, Theresa and Paul Martinson of Minneapolis; two sons, Gary Grieve II of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jason Grieve of Sioux City; a brother, Roger Rains of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Alex and Michelle Martinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mercedes Dinkel.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Craig Kirby, Dan Muller, David Muller, Adam Ward, Andy Ward and Paul Ward.
