DAKOTA DUNES -- Richard E. Burr, 58, of Dakota Dunes died unexpectedly Monday, July 29, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Climbing Hill Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Burr was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Sioux City, the son of Eldon and Joan (Swanson) Burr. He graduated from East High School in 1961. He had lived in the Sioux City area all his life.

He married Patricia R. Frakes on Feb. 2, 1963, in Sioux City. He spent most of his life in the car business. He was a partner with Irwin Records Management and recently retired from that business.

He enjoyed the outdoors, his pets and spending time with his only grandchild, Abigail, and his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Dakota Dunes; a son, Bruce Burr and his fiancee, Rashelle Katseres of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter, Jody Burr and her daughter, Abigail of Sioux City; and his mother, Joan Burr of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Burr.

Pallbearers will be Bill Suter, Dennis Frakes, Bruce Thomas, Charles Habhab, Bob Foulk and Neal Cutler.
