Bill Burns

SIOUX CITY, IA | Billy Joe Burns, 46, of Sioux City passed away in his home Thursday, May 18, 2017. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, 822 Jennings St., in Sioux City. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus, IA. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Monday with a prayer service and a time for sharing at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Bill as born March 28, 1971, to Susan Lunders Burns and Tracy Burns. He was raised in Sioux City, Iowa, and attended North High School.

Bill worked a variety of jobs in his life. He worked at Gateway Computers for a few years and could fix or do anything with computers. His most recent job was at The Hard Rock Casino

Bill was a member of the Fellowship Club and Narcotics Anonymous, both of which became very important to him and were his calling in life. He helped many, many people with their struggles with addiction by sponsoring them and being available to them in their time of need. He loved all his friends and all the people he met there.

Bill accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and also spread the word of Jesus to many of these same people. Bill had a big heart and liked telling jokes to make people laugh. He spent his free time doing what he loved most – FISHING. Nothing brought him more joy than being on the water in one of his two boats with a fishing pole in hand. Taking people on the water for fun also brought him much joy.

Bill is survived by his mother, Susan Burns of Detroit, MI, his father, Tracy Burns (Eve Sides) of Dakota City, NE, three siblings, Justin Burns, Amanda Lovett and Nick Burns. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Pallbearers will be Bob James, Jory Ahrens, Harry Soloman, Nathan Charles Kings, John Foxhoven and Jim Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Walden, Jay Tena, Mike Lunders, Brian Lunders, James Lunders and Mark Utesch.

He will be sadly missed by his relatives and many, many friends.
