Daily Sitka Sentinel, Sitka, Alaska, Wednesday, November 6, 2002, Page 3 Memorial Service Saturday for Robert Vaughn Blankenship A memorial service for former Sitkan Robert Vaughn Blankenship will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. At his request, his ashes will be spread near Green Lake in Silver Bay. Mr. Blankenship died following a lengthy illness in Juneau, where he has lived since 1997. He was 49. He was born in Sitka Sept. 15, 1953, to Vaughn and Marian Blankenship. He was raised in Sitka and attended Sitka schools, graduatino in 1971. In the early 1970s he enjoyed fishing commercially aboard the F/V Icy Queen and the F/V Baranof Queen. He later was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Prudhoe Bay, Sitka's Green Lake Dam and Ketchikan's Swan Lake Dam. Following that he became a realtor, working in Alaska and Florida. His gentle nature and sense of humor will be missed by his family, and all who knew him, his family said. He is survived by his parents, Mar- ian and Vaughn Blankenship of Sitka; children Paul Blankenship of Sitka, Laura Blankenship of Juneau and Cecilia Blankenship, both of Juneau,'and Jessica and son-in-law Ira and new grandson Andrew Paul Blankenship of Ramsteih, Germany. He also is survived by his mister and brother-in-law, Rose and Al Risley of Juneau; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Annette Blankenship of Sitka; and his grandmother, Rose Marvin of Sitka. Other survivors are aunts and uncles Merle and Mildred Enloe and Dan and Marge Blankenship, all of Sitka; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
