James Sterling - Class Of 1979

James Clayton Sterling, 50, of Goose Creek, SC, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in a local hospital.  Born March 5, 1961 in Riverhead, NY he was one of three children of Richard W. Sterling and Barbara Gildersleeve Sterling.  Jim was a veteran of the US Navy as a Submarine Nuclear Propulsion Plant operator.  He was employed by Bechtel-Bettis as a Hazardous Waste Management Coordinator serving the Naval Nuclear Power School in Goose Creek, SC.  He was an avid cyclist.

 

Jim is survived by his parents, Richard and Barbara Sterling of Smyrna, DE; brothers, Richard William Sterling and Lorraine Blevins of Clayton, DE and Steven Robert Sterlingand his wife Renee of Smyrna, DE and their children, Reid and Maria; friend, Charles Ferranti of Arlington, VA; maternal grandmother, Pauline Gildersleeve and uncle, J. Herbert Gildersleeve and his wife Diane all of Mattituck, NY.

The family will have a gathering of family and friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday, July 9, 2011 between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
