SNYDER HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1968 AND FRIENDS
On behalf of the planning committee, thank you for attending our 50th Class Reunion. I want all of you to know that your attendance and participation is thanks enough. Your participation is what made it a success and far exceeded expectations. I don’t think the anxiety level diminished until about twenty minutes into the Friday night event. As more and more of you entered and registered, I began to breathe easier. I realize that fifty years of living often clouds our priorities and fifty years of living sometimes generates commitments or circumstances that are beyond our control. I am sure all of us had some disappointments that some expected couldn’t make it and pleasant surprises from those that did attend that were not expected. I did notice at every gathering, there was the constant buzz of conversation, I concluded everyone was having a good time. I did not notice anyone engaged with their I-Phone as is common with today’s society. I have been told by several of the spouses of classmates including my own spouse, that they envy the unique bond that we all have. It is a sense of “family” bonded not by blood but by the many shared experiences growing up in a small West Texas town a hundred miles from “civilization”. I have enjoyed sharing those memories and I hope that it sparked some of your own experiences. Until next time, keep in touch and “Happy Trails to you, until we meet again” “Con amore” Vick

Hey Ken, glad to see you registered on the Reunion Site. How can you still look like your class photo? I know you must have a secret.

Happy Birthday Norman. You came as I left SHS. I can so identify with how hard it is. I teased my parents that I would never forgive them (which is not true). My Dad was with Halliburton and was transferred to Illinois of all places. I guess we adjust but it is hard. I have tried to come to my Snyder reunions and was so grateful to be included in this BIG one. After all these are my childhood friends that I have the most memories with. Will be glad to meet you.

Betse, Where were you on the evening of November 18, 1949? If it was the Battenfield-Jones Hospital, 2607 Avenue G, Snyder, we were at the same location.

Gayna, Your comments are encouraging. I am pleased to know that some of you have enjoyed the stories. Your reference to the "squaw boots" is exactly my objective for the stories. I had forgotten all about the "squaw boots" but my comments resulted in your recollection. I accidentally erased your response when I attempted to send you a reply on your comment. That is why it is not "in the chain" but, I wanted you to know for sure that I had read your response and was glad to know some were enjoying the stories. Hope to see you at the reunion.

Hey Vincent, Good to know you signed up. I knew about where you were, but did not know how to actually get in touch. I am still a couple of doors down from Lisa and I run into Tony occasionally since he retired and sold the store.
Hey, Jack, welcome aboard. As I told Bob Clayton, I was in Wimberly last August and thought about you and Bob, but I did not have any contact numbers. I was wondering if "Two Ton Tuesdays" are still a thing at Gruene Hall in the summer. I still occasionally scoot my flip flops, traded in my s**t kickers for "flip flops". Crazy stuff like that happens with old age. You would not know anything about that. Hope to see you soon.
Ahh, I remember hearing about that. The most notorious "cheeks" in West Texas high school baseball. That incident prompts several questions; Did the cheerleaders identify you in a police line up? Did you and some teammates have to re-pose in order for them to identify you as the culprit?
I am planning on making the reunion, just going through some major illness. Hopefully, I will be well enough to make it. Also Jackie Greene and I talked the other day and he is planning on going, but his wife is having surgery and he is dealing with some medical problems, but still hopes to attend.
