Philip F. Godek VIEW PROFILE

Philip F. Godek, 62, of Tiverton died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 7, 2012.  He was the loving husband to Catherine (Leger) Godek for 25 years and proud father of Devon J Godek.  Philip was born in Fall River, the son of the late Stanley and Eleanor (Underwood) Godek.  He graduated from Somerset High School in 1968 and then went on to pursue his interest in aviation by attending Burnside-Ott Aviation Training Center in Florida where he received his multi-engine commercial pilot's license.  Then in 1975, after conquering the skies, he went on to become a scuba diving instructor and was one of the first 5,000 people to be certified by the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI).  Philip worked for Fall River Knitting Mills for approximately 10 years during which time he started his first business, Pisces Diving Services, out of the garage in his Fall River home.  As part of this business venture, he also obtained a Charter Boat Captains License which allowed his scuba diving love and business to flourish as he would train fellow scuba divers and charter scuba diving adventures on his boat "Go For It".  After much success with Pisces Diving Services, Philip's natural business acumen led him to acquire a second business, Tiverton Fire & Safety, in 1984.  Philip was a multi-talented individual.  When not flying in the sky or diving in the ocean, he could be found cooking, traveling, spending time on the slopes skiing and caring for many different misfit animals that found him over the years.  He had a great sense of humor along with a generous nature and compassionate heart and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.  He is survived by his wife Cathering (Leger) Godek and their son Devon J Godek of Tiverton, brother Michael J. Godek and his companion Joan Bryson of Assonet, and sister Janet M. Godek of Fall River.  According to his wishes, his funeral services will be private.  His funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Boule Funeral Home, Fall River, MA.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wildlife Rehabilitation Association of Rhode Island, Saunderstown, RI.

Philip,

Your leaving places my mortality even more within sight! Never thought you'd go so soon and it saddens me to see such an adventurous spirit leave this place. I'll always keep your friendship special and hope we meet again sometime. Adios good friend....
