Joyce St. Laurent

Joyce's quote in the yearbook was by D. Moore: "The wrong way always seems the more reasonable."

No obituary could be found but sadly found an article in the Herald news about her tragic accident:

PROVIDENCE — A woman from Fall River, Mass., died last night when an 18-wheel tractor-trailer carrying scrap metal overturned on her vehicle at the Route 95 and Route 195 split.

Joyce St. Laurent, 56, of Lewin Street, Fall River, was pronounced dead after firefighters cut through the roof and the upended side of the trailer, broke through bundles of scrap aluminum inside the trailer; and removed the contents, said Rhode Island State Police Sgt. Richard Ryan.

The accident happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Route 95 south ramp to Route 195 East, Sgt. Ryan said.

The ramp was closed until shortly before 6 a.m. yesterday to permit highway crews to clear the wreckage.

The truck driver told State Police that he was headed south on Route 95 headed to Wellsville, Pa., from Lynn, Mass., when he slowed the truck for a slow-moving vehicle ahead of him, and a second car cut in front of the truck Sgt. Ryan said.

“He said he yanked the wheel to the left to avoid colliding with the car that cut in front of him and that is when the load started to shift,” Sgt. Ryan said.

Ms. St. Laurent was driving on the inside left lane entering the ramp to Route 195 and the truck swerved from the fourth lane on Route 95 onto the outside right lane on the ramp.

“The load shifted and the truck tipped over and landed on top of her vehicle (a station wagon),” Sgt. Ryan said. “Her car was underneath the 18-wheeler.”

I'll never forget the laughs we shared in Miss Fazio's class! I was pleased to reconnect with you at St.Anne's when my daughter needed a CAT scan. You were wonderful and gentle with her which spoke volumes about your caring nature. Your tragic accident left people in shock and made us all aware of how uncertain life can be. I pray you have found peace and your family, with the support of everyone's prayers, can find healing in your tragic passing.
