James W. Benevides, Jr. of County St., Somerset, passed away in the Charlton Memorial Hospital on Tuesday after an illness. He was the husband of the late Cindy A. (Ducy) Benevides. Born in Fall River, a son of the late James W. Benevides, Sr. and the late Helen (Rebello) Benevidies, he lived all of his life in the Town of Somerset. He worked as a construction supervisor for many years and was known for his love of the water, whether fishing, boating or just sitting at the waters edge relaxing. He was also an avid New England sports fan. He is survived by a son, James W. Benevides, III of Fall River; a daughter, Julie Sylvia of Somerset; two brothers Bruce Benevides of Attleboro and David Benevides of Fall River; two sisters, Karen DeMoura of Somerset and Sandra Courchesne of Swan sea; and two grand children, Dallas Sylvia and Sailor Benevides. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10 AM in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset with inurnment to follow in the Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Monday evening 4-8 PM.
