VIOLA ORAM
AGE: 86 NEW BRUNSWICK
Viola (Collier) "Vi" Oram, 86, died Sunday (Nov. 30, 2008) at Hunterdon Care Center, Flemington. Born in New Brunswick, she lived in the New Brunswick area all her life.
Before retiring, she was secretary to the librarian at Franklin High School, Somerset. She was an active member of United Methodist Church, New Brunswick, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women's Group. She was also a member of AARP, North Brunswick.
Her husband, George Arthur Oram Sr., died in 1979. She was also predeceased by a sister, Edith Shoemaker Heine, who died in 1992; two brothers, George A. Collier, who died in 1999, and Fred R. Collier, who died in 2003; and a dear friend and companion, Frank Knautz of Fords, who died in 2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Chilakos and her husband, Arristomen, of Lambertville; a son, George A. Oram Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Neshanic Station; a sister, Evelyn Kraszewski of Edison; four grandchildren, Meridith Oram and Katherine Oram of California, and Jordan Petrill and Blake Petrill of Neshanic Station; many nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Doris Deinzer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at United Methodist Church, corner of George and Liberty Streets, New Brunswick. Burial will follow at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Quackenboss Funeral Home, New Brunswick.
