Richard A. Birkland

Richard A. Birkland, 61, of Bangor, Pa., died Monday in his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Route 206, Hillsborough, N.J., followed by interment at Griggstown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, Nov. 8, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. Rick was a longtime resident of Hillsborough, N.J., and grew up in Griggstown. He attended Franklin High School and Waynesboro College, and received an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps. Rick spent 24 years of his career at Prudential, and retired from UPS, where he was a senior business analyst. Rick was an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his two children, Amy Weiser, and Jeffrey Birkland; two grandchildren, Ian, and Aiden; his sister, Nancy Bussinger, and brother, Bob Birkland.
