Shawn O'Sullivan - Class Of 1969

 

SHAWN P. O'SULLIVAN, 56, of Collierville, TN passed away on March 8, 2008 surrounded by his wife and two sons after a brief battle with cancer. Shawn was born October 15, 1951 in St. Mary's, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick V. O'Sullivan and Margaret K. O'Sullivan of Somerset, NJ. Shawn is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Karen Haslestad O'Sullivan; two sons, Michael William O'Sullivan and Kevin Gordon O'Sullivan; and his four legged children, Dakota and Daisy, all of Collierville. Healso leaves one brother, Brian Thomas O'Sullivan, sister-in-law, Linda K. O'Sullivan; and two nieces, Colleen and Meghan O'Sullivan of Gaithersburg, MD. He also leaves brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William Peder and Mary Ann Haslestad, Randi Haslestad, Judy and Roger Oley, Kristine and Tom Burns; his nieces are Alexandra and Elizabeth Oley, Sarah and Natalie Burns; and his one nephew, is Sam Burns. Shawn also leaves numerous childhood friends and friends and colleagues from his workplace, hobbies, andneighborhood. Shawn was a graduate of Rutgers University and a long time resident of South Brunswick, NJ. He transferred to Collierville in 1996 with Pfizer Inc of New York City. He retired from Pfizer after35 years of service as a Senior Traffic manager. Shawn's favorite past times included hunting, golf, and racing with his family and friends. He maintained a second residence in Weiner, AR dedicated solely to duck hunting. One of his passions was working with his beloved Labrador Retriever, Dakota, and training him to obtain the title of Senior Hunter. Shawn was also active in many sporting activities and clubs. He was Vice President of the Mid-South Hunting Retriever Club, a Lifetime Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, Chairman of the Collierville Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, District Committee Chairman of Ducks Unlimited, a member of The Traffic Club of New York, Memphis Traffic Club, and the Flying Saucer UFO Club and he was on the Board of Directors of Nasstrac. Through Pfizer, Shawn participated in several causes including United Way and the Healthand Personal Care Logistic Conference. Shawn enjoyed his time volunteering walking dogs at the Collierville Animal Shelter. He and his family are also members of the The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Dance With Life team of Rosewood Plantation. He embodied the 3 traits of a good Irishman: Faithfulness, Generosity, and Bravery. A memorial service to celebrate Shawn's lifewill be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, at East Win Christian Church, 4350 Hacks Cross Road, Memphis, TN 38125. A memorial service at Griggstown Reformed Church in Princeton, NJ will be at a later date.
