Stuart Fraser

After graduating from California State College at Los Angeles began working for Hallmark Cards in sales in Fresno, CA. Moved into department store sales in Scottsdale and promoted into middle management in Kansas City, Hallmark's home office. Stayed with Hallmark for 16 years final responsibility was management of Writing Instruments, Framed Art and Albums. Left in 1982 and became Director of Marketing for small gift company in North Hollywood, CA. In 1984, along with Ginny, started our own greeting card company. Grew it to about 3,000 retail outlets in the US and the UK. Began licensing our artwork to other manufacturers. At one point we had 40 active licenses with our art on their product. We ended up selling our artwork to American Greetings in Cleveland and that began the phasing out of our business. We retired in 2010 except for my involvement in Telluride. Became a Town Council member in 2001, Mayor in 2007. In November of 2011 I was re-elected as Mayor of Telluride for an additional four years. I felt humbled by receiving more than 60% of the votes cast.

With a group of guys after a football game we all played in. We were in my 52 Chevy and we pulled alongside the Tigerettes bus and a couple of the guys mooned the bus. The bus almost tipped over from the girls running to one side to see the view.

Getting involved in politics in Telluride has been both an education and an eye-opener.
Elected to Town Council in 2001 on a high card draw-I drew the Ace of Spades and being elected Mayor halfway through my second term on Council and then re-elected as Mayor in 2011.

Since we have lived in Telluride it has been skiing, hiking, photography and travel.

I am a member and former President of the Telluride Choral Society. Began singing 8-10 years ago and both Ginny and I are active participants in this organization. We have sung with a full symphony orchestra and the Durango Choral Society for Rocky Mountain PBS. We did the Verdi Requiem. Acted in the Repertory Theatre productions of Guys and Dolls and The Sound of Music. We also participated with the Berkshire Choral Festival and performed in the Salzburg Dom in front of 6,000 attendees and sang a Schubert Mass.
