Ted left Spring Valley and traveled around Minnesota, to the southern states, and especially Kansas. He drifted here and there going to new places, revisiting old favorites, and meeting all sorts of interesting people. His sister shared that he would then come home from time to time to see the family and share the stories about all the people he'd met and places he'd been. To make his way he'd do part-time work wherever he was. Later in life he experienced problems with seizures. He eventually settled in the Milwaukee area for medical attention dealing with them. During that process he had brain surgery relative to the seizures hoping it would alleviate them, but in the end a seizure took his life. Ted has been gone for about 10 years.
