Woman Drowns at Saxtons River Rec Area 

SAXTONS RIVER - A Springfield Vt , woman drowned here about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, July 10, 1974 while about 100 persons were swimming at the Saxtons River Recreation area.

Mrs Jeanne (Lynch) Knight, 30, of 23 Westview in Springfield, was in the pool with her four children when she evidently experienced an epileptic seizure and drowned in less than three feet of water,

Larry Wunderie, head lifeguard, applied artificial respiration while the Densmore Ambulance Service was called. The ambulance was on the scene in six minutes and took Mrs Knight to Rockingham Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr Walter Griffith.

Dr Charles C. Cunningham, medical examiner, attributed the death to asphyxiation by drowning combined with an epileptic seizure.

It was the first accident at the recreation area in its eight-year history.

Mrs Knight was the wife of Edward H. Knight. 

Visiting hours will be at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield from 7 - 9 this evening. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 am.

She was born in Springfield on Jan 13, 1944, daughter of William J. Sr and Evelyn (Tarajkowski) Lynch. She was graduated from Springfield High School in 1962 and married Mr. Knight in 1964.

She leaves her husband, her parents, and her maternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs Edmund Kwiatkowski of Springfield; two sons. Edward H Jr. and Curtis H ; two daughters, Francie J. and Dianna R., all of home, three brothers, William J. Lynch Jr , Gary F Lynch and Scott A Lynch, all of Springfield, and a sister Mrs Terry (Lynch) Parry, of Springfield.
