John Elbridge Thomas

John E. Thomas, 74, of Baltimore, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Mt. Ascutney Health Care Center in Windsor. He was born May 11, 1943 in Springfield the son of Elbridge and Anna (Shepard) Thomas. 

He attended Springfield schools, graduating from Springfield High School class of 1962.

John spent his whole life working on Thomas Family Dairy Farm in Baltimore. He was a hard worker who loved life, he loved to visit with family and friends, and would help out family and friends and the community of Baltimore whenever needed, sometimes just quietly fixing something or plowing someone's driveway to help out. 

John loved hunting, enjoyed attending fairs and watching the draft horses and horse pulls. He held various offices with the Town of Baltimore over the years. 

He is survived by his daughter, Joan Whaley and her husband Mark of Baltimore; daughter-in-law Christy Thomas of Baltimore; sister-in-law Judy Thomas of Baltimore; companion of 34 years Debbie Griswold; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; son Robert Thomas; and brother Shepard Thomas. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9 at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield. Reverend Jean O'Bresky will officiate. Friends may call at Davis Memorial Chapel on Saturday, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. 

A gathering will follow the service at Thomas Family Farm in Baltimore.
