Nicholas Jackson Woodbury

Nicholas Jackson Woodbury 75, of Essex Junction, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at UVM Medical Center in Burlington.

He was born April 26, 1944 in Springfield, the second son of Philip Howe and Barbara (Norton) Woodbury, then of Perkinsville. Nick was schooled in Weathersfield and Springfield, graduating from Springfield High School a member of the class of 1962. Nick furthered his education by signing on to an apprenticeship at General Electric Co. in Burlington. 

He married Gail Jennings of Burlington in 1966. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Aberdeen, MD; Germany; and Korea. Gail and Nick were stationed in Frankfort, Germany, when their son William was born prematurely, and died soon after. They moved to Essex Center where they raised two daughters, Erika and Jenna. Gail and Nick were later divorced. 

Nick worked at General Electric, later General Dynamics, then Martin Marietta, for many years. In 2008, looking for new adventure, Nick established Classic Bike Experience, a motorcycle rebuilding business with a friend Jack Manning, in Essex Junction. In 1986, Nick married Carol (Benard) Blanchard and they settled in Essex Junction with her daughter, Jody Lynn. Carol established a preschool business in their home. 

Survivors are his wife, Carol Woodbury; daughters Erika Woodbury Piazza and husband Andy Piazza of Atlanta GA; Jenna Woodbury and her husband Brian Lugers of Moab, UT; and Jody Lynn and her husband Lewyt Bowley of Burlington; grandchildren Emma Cate Piazza of Atlanta GA, Flint and Ryder Woodbury Lugers of Moab UT, Joshua Tahair (wife Michele, a great-granddaughter Nora Grace Tahair), and Trevor Tahair, all of Burlington; a brother, Henry Woodbury and wife Kathie of Athens; four sisters, Gail Woodbury of Windsor, Rebecca Tucker of Springfield, Amanda Woodbury of Como, CO and Sara Woodbury and husband Sid Siff ofAmherst MA. 

Services were held Saturday, February 1 at St. Lawrence Church, Essex Junction. A celebration of Nick's life was at Holy Family in Essex Junction. A memorial ride is planned in April to commemorate Nick's life.
