Can't believe this all happened so fast. I am so gratefull that we ladies got to visit with Jan, for an afternoon and laugh over old memories. We all will miss her so much. I wish you kids could have known her when she was young, fun and oh so giving and talented. When she walked in a room and that smile of hers would light it up. When anyone of us needed her she was there for us. And how that woman loved to laugh. I hope your grief doesn't last long because she's laughing again and probably drawing a new kingdom for the heavens.
Patti, We could never love her without loving you.

My Dear friend Janice....You were my first friend.... we all played together with the Lapham girls, while our Moms had coffee with Evy....Everytime I had a birthday party, you were there.... before we even started 1st grade....Vacation Bible school, at our church, then at yours....
You, the artist... making every piece of so-called art that the rest of our class drew look like what it really was... Childs-work..., ( well, Lanny had talent, but I don't remember anyone else).. your beautiful hand picture looked like one out of the Bible, while the rest of us drew what second-graders usually drew....
Later on, Band, ... marching, and competitions... you played that hard to play oboe.... Can't you still see us in band?... I sure can, from my stand on the 3rd row, at the drums... looking at all my friends.......
And I see you 'riding shotgun', as I drove the car-hop girls into Minneapolis to the hospital, to see our friend the cook.... Everyone had an idea on what road I should take, how I should drive, but You said... " I'll let the driver do the driving.." It's not just a memory , it's the picture I have of you in my mind... I really See you sitting there, quietly smiling at me as the 'girls' gave me back seat driving help...
I moved to Oregon, and we only saw each other when the girls gathered when I would get back to Minnesota...
Then, years go by, and I remember you and I riding around before the High School was to be torn down... How we almost joined the group that was going to break in, and take a final look around... but still being the good girls, we didn't join in...We changed our minds, looked for the group,.... nameless to save their reputations.... but they were gone..... .Later, my Mom took our picture in front of the windows where we started first grade...
I have so many happy memories of time spent with you... I hope you have some of me, too
We all had a great visit at your place a few weeks ago.... If you want some 'old-girl' company, I will be back to see you...Terri will get me a stand-by ticket, so I can afford another trip...
I will write again later.... Love you ....Sheila
