Bill Watkins

Obituary

William “Bill” L. Watkins, age 76, of East Bethel, Minnesota, died at home Sunday, December 19, 2021 following a lengthy battle with cancer.  Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Following his honorable discharge, he began his career at Unisys as a computer programmer.  That career spanned over 39 years.  In his free time Bill loved motorcycles and cars; especially his beloved 79’ Corvette.  One of his favorite memories came during a recent birthday when his daughter surprised him with an opportunity to drive a Lamborghini on a race track. It was a dream come true. Bill also enjoyed the outdoors; camping, fishing, snowmobiling and dirt biking.  Above all, the time spent with his children and beloved grandchildren was where he found his greatest joy.  He was an incredibly proud father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elizabeth (Conrad) Watkins; and siblings, Delores and Melvin.  He will be deeply missed by his children, Jay (Cindy) Watkins, Kim (Watkins) Bowman; grandchildren, Marley, Jack, Jasmine, Lucy; other family and many treasured friends.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Moes American Grill, 2400 County Road 10, Mounds View, Minnesota where his favorite meal, Beef Stroganoff will be served in honor of him.
