Obituary from St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Thursday, November 16, 2017:
Cutchens, Robert O. Baptized in the hope of Christ's Resurrection Saturday, November 11, 2017. Dear son of the late Robert and Marie Cutchens; dear brother of Carole (the late Donald) McDermott, Patricia (Richard) Ahrens and Victoria Cutchens; our dear uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Services: Visitation at The Cathedral Basilica on Saturday, November 18, 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Elizabeth's Hall or Catholic Charities. Interment Calvary Cemetery. KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY SERVICE.
Bob seemed like a regular on the Saturday afternoon TV show, "Scholar Quiz", on KMOX when we were in high school. I enjoyed watching him representing his school, Bishop DuBourg. He was both intelligent and quick with answers making him a valuable player on his team.
I am sorry to hear about Bob’s death. I always liked him and often I would see him walking the neighborhood as I visited my parents on Walsh. I remember one time I dropped my car off at Hampton & Walsh. Bob saw me and walked home with me. I can remember exactly what he was wearing and his animated speech.
I remember other classroom times with Bob, but this is the memory that stays in my heart. He was a brilliant guy who was lost too soon. I’m sorry he’s gone but I am glad he is at peace.
So sad, so young. What I remember the most is Bob running Francis Park early in the morning before school. Great character and always a quick knowing smile.
