Chick and I met in the 3rd grade at Gulf Beaches Elementary and attended the same schools up to and including Boca Ciega. Chick was a year older than most of us and was bigger and stronger than us also. I broke my collar bone during J.V. football at Bogie trying to block him (or vice-versa) and that pretty much ended my football days. It was all fair and legal! Later on, after I moved away from Florida, I believe he became a policeman in my old stomping grounds of Treasure Island and I think he eventually became the chief of police there. I enjoyed talking with him at earliear reunions and will miss him again this year.
