School Story
I am a very long way from being in school but one of the funniest times I had during my years working with Junior Miss was the year I made a fake program book and made sure that Sue Cooper got that particular one. The story is: the morning after Betsy Bates was awarded the title of Ky Junior Miss I kept trying to call Sue and her line stayed busy forever. Since I didn't live that far from her I just drove to her house. There she sat in the couch in her gown just talking up a storm. Of course I understood the conversation just hearing one side of it. It was about our weekend at Bowling Green. Being the jokester that I am I remembered that I still had my camera in my purse. I pulled it out and took a picture of Sue in her night gown as she talked. Several years later when I was preparing the program book and going back through earlier material of the book I ran across that picture. It just so happened that I had planned a few "pictures of the past" for the first few pages of the book. I had this really great idea to put that picture of Sue in only one book and make sure she got that one.
When she finally saw the picture, of course she thought it was in all of the books.
Watching her expression(s)was worth all of the work it took to make that one book. Of course being the classy lady she is, she took it all in stride and enjoyed the joke too.
I have so many good memories and remember a lot big laughs of the Junior Miss program during my twenty years.
Judy Hester and Jennifer Baker furnished us a lot of good laughs that I will never forget. If you made the trips to Bowling Green for state, lo many years ago, you know those times were priceless. (That just might have been "the good old days).
