TINNITUS

I have this ringing in my ears;

a humming, a buzzing sound.

I'll describe it so you can relate;

It's like a summer night,

with crickets all around.

I've been to the ENT,

there's nothing he can do.

I'm on a mission to get rid of it;

so I'm reaching out to you.

I've prayed and prayed,

God hasn't taken it away;

or used doctors to cure it.

If anyone knows how

to make it go away;

then please let me hear it.

I put this question in poetic form, but I'm serious. Do any of you have this (Tinnitus)? Dr Oz and my ENT Doctor said that it's common, but I have only found one other person that has it. Tinnitus is very annoying, it's 24/7.

I have had it since my days in the Army. Mine varies in intensity based on the number of allergens in the air, usually from the equivalent of a flourescent light ballast going out to loud enough to block out people talking across the room.  The doctors at the VA see a lot of it, but don't have much to offer either. The only thing that I have found that works is one teaspoon of elderberry juice a day. (It's OK, I snickered at first, too.) It builds up the immune system and has really helped me. It took about 2 weeks to build up, but mine has gone down to where I actually have to listen for it, and have even had a couple days of silence.  I hope this works for you.

Elderberry Juice,  we're not elderly (smile) I'll have to try it. DR OZ said vitamin B12

Phyllis asked that I post my reply to her; it follows. Have you all found anything that helps?

All the Best,

Terri

Phyllis,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having tinnitus and am sure that you have researched it yourself; it's got to be awful. So, while this may not be news to you - and it certainly isn't a poem - it may be worth a try!

In addition, I have read that a high quality fish oil supplement (or diet) can often help with most inflammatory issues (stay away from farm-raised fish, but THAT's another story!).

IF you are in Stillwater, check with Lori Lewis Edgmund (sp), another Stillwater girl, at Nature's Supply by the old Wal-Mart. She is VERY knowledgable in other causes and possible homeopathic remedies.

Will you make it to the reunion?

In my limited experience with patients, tinnitus has been related to a food intolerance (usually dairy, but not always) and clears up on an elimination diet. Then when you reintroduce the offending food(s) you can identify the culprit.

You may also want to look into past history of ear infections (it could be a chronic low grade infection that needs to be cleared up).

Chiropractic is a great idea and constitutional homeopathy has been quite successful too. So if you can't find a dietary cause, you need a professional in natural health.
