Hola, Jack.  I remember you in Spanish class, especially when we listened to Spanish music and you kept the beat on your desk top, just like bongo drums.

It saddened me to learn of your passing from this life.  I attended your wake in Champaign and met your wife and children.  Lovely people and I am sure you were proud of them.  I told them about your bongo playing on the desk top in Spanish class which brought a smile to their faces.

You left way too soon, Jack.  I hope you are at peace now.  Your friend and former classmate, Melva Chalfant Solon.

We were in Mr. Grisham's homeroom together.  Jack was a very kind person, and I particularly remember how respectful he was of his parents, especially his mom.  During high school, we bowled together in a Saturday morning league (He was an excellent bowler...one of the best.), and after he bowled a frame he would usually go back and talk with his parents who generally stayed to watch the games.  This was an era when many teenagers avoided their parents at all costs, remember?!   You set a great example, Jack, and this is what I remember most about you.
