Richard F. Reed 1943-2011

 

STREATOR — Richard F. Reed, 68, of Streator, died at 10:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at his residence in Streator.

Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Streator. Following the services, full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Born June 21, 1943, in Streator, he was the son of Frank and Phyllis (Huber) Reed. He married Carole A. Majercin on Oct. 9, 1967, at St. Stephen's Church in Streator. She survives in Streator.

Also surviving is a son, Cory (Dawn) Reed of Streator; a daughter, Tammy (Steve) Bennett of Gloucester, Mass.; and grandchildren, Peyton Reed, Davin and Drew Garner and Ashleigh, Alyssa, Stephen and Hunter Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Reed; and a nephew, Alex Reed.

Born and raised in Streator, he attended Streator schools and graduated from Streator Township High School in 1961. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Richard worked as a truck driver and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 722. He was a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ASPCA, Pet Project or the American Cancer Society.
